Isla Veness from Esperance Primary School decorates a boomerang.
Primary school students from Esperance and nearby suburbs were brought together to celebrate this year’s NAIDOC event hosted by Nulsen Primary School.
The event began with a Welcome to Country before students dispersed in Graham Mackenzie Stadium to participate in activities ranging from bush tucker sampling to learning how to throw a boomerang.
Nulsen Primary Deputy Principal Janet-Marie Wombell was proud to host the second year of the event, acknowledging the significance for the students to “embrace culture through activities”.
Janet’s sentiments were shared by many local organisations who showed up to support the community funded event. Food and drinks were provided by South Coast food services and Woolworths while representatives from the Native Title Aboriginal Corporation and Parks and Wildlife helped run activities for students.
