A little bit of wind was not enough to put off the eager Munglinup Bushman’s Association members from attending their August Team Penning Training Day on Sunday August 25. Approximately 20 members saddled up for a great Sunday of laughs whilst learning the basics of team penning and fine tuning their riding skills.
Team penning is a horse and cattle-based sport which brings together a team of three horse riders who are to select three cows from a mob and move them into a secure yard within a set time limit. The challenge is making sure you select the correct three cows, as all cows have a coloured collar on and the team of riders are only allowed to select their allocated colour. Two minutes is all you have to complete this task.
A massive thank you to Jim and Linda Loffler, and Julie Laurie, who were very generous hosts and who also ran the morning coaching session helping riders learn more about Team Penning. The MBA is extremely lucky to have such knowledgeable and experienced members.
Munglinup Bushman’s Association is club which prides itself on being a family orientated club encouraging riders of all ages and skills. This was most evident with Guy, Simone and Pippa Bennie making up a team for the day; Ian and Irene Fletcher riding together; Dana Smithson riding with her daughter Zara; Penny Malone and her mum Chris enjoying the day; and the Loffler Family being hosts, coaches and team members! New members are always welcome to participate in the MBA training days and clinics.
Munglinup Bushman’s is proudly sponsored by local businesses: Aviso Insurance, Boord Construction, Swans Veterinary Services, Elders Esperance, Southern Ports, Esperance Toyota, Loffs Feed & Saddlery, Freight Lines Group, Triple M Transport, Farmgate Equine, Farm & General and Southern Petroleum.
