Esperance Land Based Fishing Club had 25 keen members turn up over the weekend for their last shot at points to take out the trophies for the season.

The weather forecast was less then desirable but was only bad in patches and not for too long so that was a bonus.

Only one of the larger species was caught with Ben Liddelow weighing in a nice Gummy.

A good spread over the smaller species with the Tatey’s most species award won by Jesse Smithson on weight overall as there were five other anglers with the same number of species. Braydon Wood scored Lucky Roe’s “Nearly Lucky” prize while Oli Stevenson landed the Esperance Edge Crab Hat.

Bonus fish prize winners were Mitch Waideman (1st) with a nice Tailor ($120) and Scott Liddelow (2nd) for his winning Skippy ($50) both gearing up for our major event of the year, the 2024 Land Based Fishing Classic which will this year take place on October 5 and 6. Follow our Facebook page for more details to come about this event.

While the 2024 fishing season has come to an end, we look forward to welcoming everyone to our Windup and AGM which will be run from 2pm at the Lucky Bay Brewery on Sunday September 8.

There will be pizza, lawn games and prizes galore and the end of year presentations of the Champion Trophies in each category.

Please remember to use any vouchers you have won during the season and thank all our wonderful sponsors as we wouldn’t have a club without them.

All committee positions are open for 2025, and we look forward to seeing some new faces and fresh ideas to keep this club growing.
