Gypsies went undefeated in the 2024 Esperance Ladies Dart Association finals series to be crowned premiers on Saturday night at the Esperance Golf Club.

Having finished the regular season in third place, Gypsies conquered both Dynamites and Spearchuckers 6-2 in elimination final wins to face up against the minor premiers Dundas Gold in the grand final.

Gypsies controlled the contest from the outset leading four games to one after the teams’ events and it was a margin that the Gypsies would never relinquish going on to win six legs to three.

Sarah Hooper led the way for the Gypsies with the match’s highest average of 42.000 as well as the premiership winning peg of 42 as captain Jess Connell top scored with 140 in the first leg of the match.

Gypsies won the 2024 ELDA main grand final defeating Dundas Gold six games to three in the match played at the Esperance Golf Club on Saturday night.

Hayleigh Graham was the best player from Dundas Gold, averaging 41.307 and achieving  the highest peg of 32 for her side.

Zandy Bonney and Shannon Graham both top scored 92 for Dundas Gold.

Meanwhile, wild momentum swings between Dynamites and Nuggets saw the plate grand final result come down to a final leg shootout.

Nuggets took a four-one lead into the singles matches as both teams struggled with the pegs in the teams’ events.

Featuring four fresh players introduced to the world of darts this season, Nuggets won the 2024 ELDA plate grand final and the Gwen Barnett memorial shield defeating Dynamites six games to five in a dramatic final.

After captain Sue Meagher (39.917 average) won her singles with a 48 peg Nuggets were one leg away from victory at 5-2.

Dynamites then won three singles legs in a row to tie the match at five all with a game of singles to play, Viv Rawson (37.240 average) was particularly impressive pegging 50 with a single dart at the bullseye in her singles win.

In the deciding leg, Nuggets Wanika Close pushed out to a considerable lead against Dynamites Roz Plumb, pinning the troublesome double one to give her team the win though Plumb made a determined comeback and had darts at the peg as well.

The final leg of the plate decider  was well received by the vocal crowd with the gathered fans showing support to both players, in what was a dramatic ending.

The Esperance Ladies Dart Association committee led by President Cassie Dixon-Hurley then awarded the 2024 season prizes, with Spearchuckers teammates Kaaron Mitchell and Tiana McCutcheon receiving a majority of the perpetual shields.

Sam Bambury from Dundas Gold was awarded the Faye Anderson shield for having the highest progressive average of the season of 40.223 as Rawson won the Shirley Schmidt shield for the most singles wins in season 2024 with 16.

Dundas Gold were the 2024 ELDA season Minor Premiers and the Runners-Up.
