It is only a matter of time before the newly renovated Twilight Beach Surf Club will be open.

Club director of education, Jayme Bergman said that the club was in desperate need of an upgrade when it closed its doors 12 months ago to begin renovations.

Since then, the clubhouse has undergone major redevelopment to make it fit for current occupancy codes and invite more public interest through its modern and accessible design.

“The clubhouse was just about gutted and redesigned with more universal access,” Ms Bergman said.

“We’re hoping that the club can be used not only by members but be used for more functions.”

As well as renovated bathrooms, added lifts and a newly designed lower story, the club’s old storage shed was knocked down to make space for a shed that Bergman said was stronger and bigger.

“Having the bigger club and redeveloped club and better storage facility will mean there is better access to equipment and better ability to store the equipment,” she said.

Ms Bergman said the renovations would be complete right in time for the start of the Nippers season in early November with an official open day in the plans for February 2025.

The public will have the opportunity to have a sneak peek at the new facilities at the Twilight Beach Surf Life Saving Club Open Day in the last week of October.

On the day, people will be able to meet the volunteers behind surf lifesaving in Esperance and learn about becoming involved in the club ahead of patrol season.

Bergman said being the only surf club in Esperance, the training and services provided by the surf lifesaving volunteers go beyond the waters of Twilight beach.

“Members have a skillset that can be used in the community,” she said.

“When our surf life savers and young families come to Twilight Beach they learn about danger and learn how they might be able to help other people too.”

Ms Bergman said that for those considering joining the club, their bronze medallion training program is starting in late October.

She encourages everyone interested to contact the Esperance Goldfields Surf Life Saving Club Facebook page or email: education@egslsc.com.au .
