Pam Burgess’ “Rempah”.
The “What the eyes cannot see” exhibition opened last Thursday at the Cannery Arts Centre, where a crowd of Esperance locals came to show their support for the community curated project.
The exhibition featured a display of sculptures with corresponding zines (magazines) that explore artists’ memories, personal stories, culture and identity; the things that cannot be seen with the naked eye.
The artworks have been created by members of the Esperance community and local schools who were guided through activities run by Cannery artists-in-residence Audrey Fernandes-Satar and Arif Satar.
At the opening of the exhibition, Fernandes-Satar welcomed all attendees saying she was grateful and moved to bear witness to the personal experiences the artists shared through their works.
The exhibition will be on display at the Cannery Arts Centre until November 17.
