Pink Lake Butchers have come out on top yet again, winning gold and bronze in the Perth Royal Food Awards last Friday.
The team have cemented themselves as charcuterie champions, awarded gold for their biltong strips and their Coppa, a dry cured meat similar to prosciutto.
The butcher’s nationally recognised prosciutto was awarded with bronze, as was its pancetta.
Kaaron Mitchell said she was absolutely chuffed with the results.
“I’ve been competing against men for generations,” she said.
“As the only female who’s making it, it feels fantastic.”
The team took to Facebook to share their excitement and graciously gave some credit from their success to their pork supplier.
“When our pork supplier Black Label Berkshire is picking up the top gongs for their heritage breed pork, it’s no wonder we can turn it into amazing charcuterie,” they said.
“2024 tucked away, happy in the knowledge our dedication is still paying off.”
Kaaron said with this year’s competitions out of the way, the team at Pink Lake Butchers will be turning their attention to Christmas, but they will never stop working to improve and streamline their products.
The Perth Royal Foods branded meats and small goods awards are held by the Royal Ag Society annually to celebrate excellence in the industry.
A spokesperson from the Royal Ag Society said they were proud to celebrate remarkable producers and inspire growth across the country.
“From exceptional marbling to unique flavours, the products this year truly shine the spotlight on high quality Australian produce,” they said.
