Esperance Men’s Shed now has a dedicated metalwork building.
At the opening on Friday, President Tony Ietto said it should attract more members.
“The shed is a great thing for men to get together and communicate,” he said.
“A lot of people said they’d like to join if we have a metal workshed because they don’t like woodwork.”
Member Lance Williams demonstrated the miniature blacksmith’s forge he had donated.
“I installed it from home because my shed’s getting a bit cluttered,” he said.
“It’s small-time blacksmithing — I make a few knives or bottle openers or all sorts of little gadgets and knick knacks. Nothing major.”

Secretary Mike Gibbs said Esperance Bay Rotary Club contributed $5000 to buy equipment, Nullarbor Muster Club $2500 and Horizon Power $4000.
He said Lotterywest paid for most of the construction costs.
