The Cannery Arts Centre is hosting an exhibition called ” Your Element – A Summer of Interactive Art”, which creative director Rani Fankha describes as celebrating the beauty and spirit of Esperance.

It is open until February 16 at the Centre’s Art Room Gallery.

“The elements of Esperance – its mesmerising waters, strong winds, sun-drenched rocks, and whispering breezes – shape the experience of Kepa Kurl,” she said.

“This interactive project invites locals and visitors alike to reflect on their connection to this remarkable environment and express it through art.”

Fankha said the exhibition was inspired by Oscar Munrillo’s The Flooded Garden at London’s Tate Gallery and in collaboration with Australia’s Golden Outback, Esperance.

“In Your Element will evolve into a collaborative community artwork, celebrating a different element each week over the school holidays,” she said.

“Participants of all ages can contribute, layer by layer, to create a living, collectivemasterpiece that embodies the essence of Esperance.”

Participants are invited to paint with house paints, so Fankha said they should dress in clothes they don’t mind getting messy, and children must be supervised at all times. Entry is by gold coin donation, with conditions applying.
