Bad-tempered

An alleged repeat family violence offender became enraged after he was refused bail in Esperance Magistrates court last Tuesday.

Matthew Henley, who appeared via video link from Eastern Goldfields Regional Prison, stood up and swore before the magistrate muted the video.

The former Esperance pesticide technician is being held for breaching a family violence restraining order.

While addressing the court before the outburst Henley said, “I love my family — I really want to move forward and be the best father I can be.”

The alleged offender said his mother had agreed he could be granted bail to her house.

But the prosecution said it had serious concerns about his impulsive and oppressive behaviours and his previous non-compliance of bail conditions.

Magistrate Lyons said the strength of the prosecution case was overwhelming and his long history of breaching court orders did not bode well.

It was the second time the alleged offender had been refused bail over the same charges.
