Ravensthorpe senior constable Marcus Scott was first on the scene to find fragments of a meteorite that fell to earth earlier this month.
His colleagues at Ravensthorpe Police said he made the find at a dried up salt lake near Lake Hope, roughly half way between Hyden and Norseman.
They were quick to post the find on the station’s social media account.

“The find has sparked interest from all over the world and now awaits classification before being handed to the WA Museum,” the post reads.
“We now have our own ‘Ravy Rock Star’.”
Mr Scott had a good idea where to look, as two of Curtin University’s cameras from the Desert Fireball network had detected the object passing through the atmosphere around 6am on Sunday, May 11.
