Esperance Soccer Association volunteers have been recognised for helping boost player numbers to 350 in 2025.
Football West named the Esperance Soccer Association as the Club Changer Club of the Month for May.
Football West Community Football manager Abid Imam congratulated the Association’s “hard-working volunteers”.

The work they put in has been crucial to the growth of the sport there and it’s great they have been recognised in this way,” Mr Imam said.
Esperance Soccer Association president Louise Pearn said due to Esperance’s remote location, locals are self-reliant when it comes to strengthening community clubs.
“We have doubled our junior players over the last two years and wanted to embrace the enthusiasm for the sport but this is a massive ask of our volunteers,” Ms Pearn said.

“Developing a girls league with female coaches had the advantage of balancing out our gender mix in both players and volunteers.”
Club changer is a Football Australia club development program, designed to support soccer clubs across the country.
