Esperance Squash Club has given life membership to two longstanding members to show its appreciation of their contributions.
Tammie Florisson and Laurie Fyfe said they each had at least 25 years’ active membership of the club.
“It’s just amazing to be recognized by your fellow squashies and it’s a great squash family, a great club there so it’s been a good ride,” Florisson said.
“The game is great and what our forbearers managed to do for us was amazing because we’re a member-owned club and I think the only one in WA that’s member-owned, so we’re very lucky.”
Fyfe said the accolade was “definitely appreciated”.
“You don’t do all the work around the clubs to get recognition, but it’s appreciated,” he said.
“You meet a lot of lovely people and I’ve made a lot of good friends through it.”
They thanked the members who had nominated them.
