Regional Districts caused somewhat of a minor upset in the CBH Colts Group division two decider last Friday, knocking off the previously-undefeated Kimberley Spirit by 46 points at East Fremantle Oval, 13.8 (86) to 6.4 (40).

The Red Dogs, featuring Esperance’s Tyson Graham, Jack Riley, Jaxon Walsh, and Ports’ Luke Maloney and Keenan Rymer, turned around Thursday’s eight-point defeat to the Spirit with a strong four-quarter effort.

Graham and Rymer were influential in the grand final winning a heap of the football from the midfield and setting up goals with effective delivery inside 50 for the Red Dogs.

The ruckman Riley hit the scoreboard with a goal late in the last quarter, giving Regional Districts their first win at the championships since 2005, earning promotion to division one for next year’s squad.

Timothy George, who plays for Boulder City in the Goldfields, won the best-on-ground medal, whilst Albert Leveney from Railways in the Goldfields and Tayten Smith from the Southerners in the Lower South West were selected in the CBH Group Colts All-Stars side.

In the division one grand final, Peel won its fourth title in five years, defeating South West 9.8 (62) to 5.6 (36).
