Mitchell Guest buried the championship winning goal in the final play of the match to give Learning Pathways Australia a 2-1 win against Esperance Communications in the Esperance Hockey Association’s Under 17s grand final on Saturday morning.
With the match seemingly heading to one-on-ones, Learning Pathways Australia had earned a penalty corner just as the final whistle blew.

The ball was played in by Thomas Guest, finding Mitchell at the top of the shooting circle, who danced around Esperance Communications captain Josh Ryan placing his shot on goal out of the reach of goalkeeper Ollie Pietsch and past the last defender, Kieran Morcombe into the goals.
Earlier Mitchell had scored the game’s first goal in the opening half to give Learning Pathways Australia a deserved lead, only for the scores to be tied up after a goal to Morcombe five minutes before full time, leading to a nervy extra time period.

Mitch Guest was rightfully awarded as the best player on the ground by umpires Jacqui Tonkin and Mark Darlow and was joined by Jack Mackenzie, Jessica Walter and Charlie Green as Learning Pathways Australia better players.
Josh Ryan, Noah Ryan, Fritz Labuscagne and Morcombe all tried hard for Esperance Communications in what was an extraordinary grand final played in great spirits.
