ESPERANCE and Districts sporting organisations have until Sunday October 12 to enter their competitors and volunteers into the 2025 EDRA Sports Star of the Year Awards, to be presented at the Civic Centre next month.
The EDRA Sports Star of the Year Awards recognises excellence across all sports from the Esperance district.
EDRA president Natasha Woodhouse said the awards were held to showcase the talent from the Esperance region.

“The awards are held to celebrate those players who have made achievements in their chosen sport, inspire others and show that it is possible to represent your state/country even when you are from a small, isolated area such as Esperance,”she said.
With the majority of the winter sports wrapped up for the year, it is the perfect time for those Associations to recognise their high achievers whose dedication and accomplishments in their chosen sport deserve to be celebrated.
Presentations will be made in five categories for the Horizon Power Sports Star, Southern Ports Junior, Masters/Veterans, Team and Volunteer.
Service to sport awards will be also presented for the “local sports personalities” based on overall contributions to their chosen sport over a period of time.

“We just want to celebrate those players and volunteers in a wide range of sports because they work hard and they don’t necessarily have the input and the access to coaching and support that others have,” Woodhouse said.
“So we like to celebrate that and we also aim to have a guest speaker who has made significant achievements in sport and show that you can make such achievements even if you are from the country.”
The awards will be presented in the afternoon of Sunday November 2 at the Esperance Civic Centre. Nominations can be obtained by emailing edraesperance@gmail.com, with nominations closing on Sunday October 12.
