Educator of the year winner
After 25 years working as a family day care educator she has been recognised as the National Educator of the Year in the 2024 Excellence in Family Day Care Awards.
Fewings takes the prize
Local artist Elaine Fewings won top gong and a $3000 prize at the Esperance Art awards for her piece The Gentle Nature of Peaceful Resistance.

Threats to ground-nesting birds: Focus on plovers
A family of birds whose nests are particularly vulnerable are the plovers and lapwings, who simply scrape a shallow depression in the sand in which to lay their eggs.
Sea dogs’ debut: Esperance’s South Sea Shantymen
At their debut the ensemble sang a set of mostly sea shanties, plus a few other folksy numbers like the Pogues’ Dirty Old Town.
