Beach erosion had been a problem for many years, becoming worse after construction works at Esperance Port in the 1960s.
Esperance Coastal Safety Group chairman Chris Brien said people needed to make sure their capabilities matched the conditions.
According to Mr Darch, the Bardick (Echiopsis curta) is a “totally non-aggressive species with venom similar to death adders”.
Esperance Bay and Districts CWA branch is inviting women, particularly young mums, to consider joining the group.
The narrow space makes it a useful venue for displaying miniatures such as Coyle’s quirky pieces.
