John Phillips has become the 263rd life member of the Esperance Mechanical Restoration Group (EMRG).

He was awarded life membership last week and EMRG social media coordinator Liz Plecas said John had been a proactive and supportive member in the group since he joined in 2014.

Mr Phillips has been a member of EMRG since 2014.

“He has been Vice President of EMRG in 2021, 2022, 2023 and capably filled in as President on many occasions,” she said.

“John participates in regular Monday morning restoration and working bees and over the time has been very active in many projects.

“One would have to be very early to catch him sometimes as he must rise with the sun.”

Mrs Plecas said some of Mr Phillips’ contributions to the group included building and maintenance of the EMRG site and “50 shades of green” nursery.

The relocation and rebuild of the EMRG’s train set and the restoration of aspring cart were only a couple of Mr Phillips’ commendable major projects, according to Mrs Plecas.
