Condingup make move in women’s hockey

Condingup moved into second place on the standings of the Esperance Hockey Association women’s division with a hard fought 2-1 win over Furies on Saturday.

The Cougars came out firing with early goals to Terri Herbert and Demi Hunter as Tessa Hunt pulled the margin back to one goal halfway through the second quarter.

Furies attacked the Condingup goal mouth relentlessly in the second half searching for an equaliser, but the Cougars defence stood tall.

The greatest chance for Furies came with ten minutes remaining where they were awarded a penalty flick, taken by Aisha Darlow but the resultant flick was expertly swatted away by Condingup goalkeeper Skye Jordan.

Condingup’s better players were listed as Emma Dougal, Jenna Gow and Jordan as Sophie Podmore, Jonte Darlow and Toni Howlett tried hard for Furies.
