Between November 25 and December 10, Esperance Crisis Accommodation Service will be hosting 10 free workshops to empower women.
The days between International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (November 25) and Human Rights Day (December 10) are recognized globally as the 16 days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.
As part of the international observance, Esperance Crisis Accommodation Service is set to launch a new initiative called Thrive: Esperance Women’s Workshops.
An ECAS spokesperson said they would host the workshops in collaboration with locals and businesses with the aim of empower participants and equiping them with new knowledge about themselves and the community.
“Thrive aims to empower women in Esperance through education, skill-building, and community engagement, raising awareness of the critical issues surrounding family and domestic violence, as well as the local support services available,” they said.
“In addition to immediate benefits like skill development and personal growth, these workshops offer a chance for women to forge new connections, fostering valuable social networks and support systems.”
According to the spokesperson, there will be 10 workshops over the 16 days varying from artistic expression workshops like self-portrait painting to learning essential life skills like basic car maintenance.
Workshop admissions are free but those interested are advised to secure tickets via the ECAS website.
