Djilba Wildflower Festival has been a hit with visitors and locals this year.

Themed “flora of the wetlands”, it has just concluded its second season since Tjaltjraak Aboriginal Corporation took over from St Andrew’s Anglican parish.

Coordinator Jennelle Reynolds said they were keen to grow the festival for the community to appreciate the natural wonders of local wildflowers.

Ms Reynolds said the Friday opening night with key note speaker Professor Stephen Van Leeuwen set the tone well for the festival, with the decision to shift the main opening day to Saturday proving popular with locals.

She said as a Native Title organisation, they were able to source Commonwealth funding for the event from the Indigenous Languages and Arts program.

She thanked the Parish, Shire, Esperance Wildflower Society and other partners and the wider community for their contributions to the festival which concluded on Wednesday.
