The Cannery Arts Centre is opening the Esperance Art Awards with a special event to recognise local artistic talent.
This year’s awards feature 10 categories with a range of prizes.
Categories include:
- Shire of Esperance Award of Excellence (non-acquisitive, any medium) – $3,000
- Southern Ports – Esperance (non-acquisitive, marine theme, any medium) – $1,000
- First Nations Art Award sponsored by Mineral Resources Ltd (non acquisitive, any subject, any medium) – $1,000
- 3D Award sponsored by Chris Siemer (non-aquisitive, sculptural and three-dimensional works) – $1,000
- 2D Award (non-aquisitive, sponsored by Farm and General)- $1,000
- Youth Artist Award sponsored by Steve Martin MLC (16-26 yrs) – $500
- People’s Choice Award sponsored by Shelley Payne MLC (voted by gallery visitors)- $500
- Highly Commended Award sponsored by Peter Rundle MLA and Colin de Grussa MLC (for artworks deemed worthy by the judge)- $500
- Two Highly Commended Awards of $500 each, sponsored by Mineral Resources Ltd and Kyza Presents.

The exhibition opens 6pm, Thursday November 21 and runs until February 9.
