Chelsea Exell took out the win in this year’s Aus Day Swim Thru, becoming the first woman to win the event.
In 2024, Exell’s time of 38:13 saw her finish the race in third place behind five-time winner Shannan Dixon, who did not enter this year’s race, and Alice Dormer.
Exell crossed the line this year with a time of 35:25, followed closely by Jackson Chapman in second place and Michael Hackett in third.
Exell will enter the 2025 Rottnest Channel Swim to be held next month, after rough seas forced the abandonment of last year’s race about half way though the event due to choppy conditions.

Terry Landers from the Esperance Triathlon Club said this was the 26th year of the swim, which was resurrected in its current form in 2000.
There were 37 participants this year with the youngest swimmer, Joseph Hart finishing in 29th place with a time of 53:23.
The prize-winning place getters were Chelsea Exell, Lisa McMillan and Bianca Marshall for the women and Jackson Chapman, Michael Hackett and James England for the men.
