Esperance Weekender staff were grateful to see the newspaper arrive safely after reports of a Freight Lines Group road train colliding with a shop awning in Perth’s southern suburbs last night.
The company has transported our newspaper from printers in Perth since we started publication in 2021.
The truck had been trying to turn into Jull Street, Armadale, and pictures show one of its trailers wedged against the awning of a corner store, which is Subway Armadale.
A WA Police spokesperson said a white Volvo truck with semi-trailer collided with a building at the intersection of Jull Street and Third Road in Armadale about 7.45pm on Thursday.
“The male driver — aged in his 50s — was uninjured,” she said.
“No other injuries were reported.”
The Weekender also understands the truck in question had been heading for a destination other than Esperance.
Freight lines declined to comment.
