Crowd favourites from last year’s summer mini fest Ghost Care are coming back to Esperance flaunting a new band member, a new single and brand-new set.

Bassist/vocalist Emma Joan joined the band in January to complete the trio that also includes vocalist/guitarist Beau Torrance and drummer Luke Del Fante.

Esperance crowds could expect a high energy, indie-pop vibe with bit of emotion sprinkled in for good measure, according to Del Fante.

“Happy with a touch of sad,” he said.

“We like to play what we have fun with.”

Sticking to the theme of all things new, Del Fante said audiences would be privy to a few of Ghost Care’s new tunes.

“We have a whole EP that we are keen to get out,” he said.

“It’s going to be one of the biggest releases we’ve had.”

The band’s intention with the new EP, Del Fante said, was to solidify the band’s identity through a unified body of work with cohesive, identifiable tracks.

“We wanted it to have a sound you recognise,” he said.

It’s something he said he was excited to share with the audience in Esperance and throughout their WA tour.

When we asked what his favourite part of touring was, Del Fante said: “just playing to people”.

“You practise for hours and hours and you get on the stage for half an hour and you kind of feel like you’ve been working for it, and you’ve earnt it,” he said.

“The energy comes together.”

Ghost Care will be playing a free show at Lucky Bay Brewing on Sunday, supported by Olivia Pokela.
