Goals Galore for Esperance Hockey

It was raining goals during the double header weekend for the Esperance Hockey Association’s men’s division.

In total 39 goals were scored in the six matches, two of which were marred by a torrential thunderstorm on Sunday morning.

The extremely wet weather which included a small dose of hail did not deter Castletown as they overcame a desperately undermanned Sharks 7-2.

Lachie Stewart (two goals) was best afield for Towns as Tom Edwards (one goal) and Kaelin Hughes (one goal) rounded out the better players.

The Sharks were best served by Beau Graham, Will Lewis and Owen Massenbauer as Nathan Frankel and Charlie Abbott scored a goal apiece.

Rams wrapped up the Division’s minor premiership with four qualifying games remaining in the other early match on Sunday morning after defeating Cascade three goals to one.

In a complete contrast to the earlier conditions, Condingup and Wolves were greeted to extended periods of sunshine as the storm clouds drifted to the east.

The drier conditions suited Condingup as they scored four goals against Wolves, Aiden Nell with a brace to be voted as the best player on the ground.

Matt Clawson and Bryce Nell also hit the scoresheet for the Cougars as Ben Peircey scored a goal from the penalty spot for Wolves.

Rams may have a mortgage on top spot, but it will go down to the wire to which of the three teams will join them in the 2025 finals series, as only five points currently separate second to sixth place on the ladder.
