Harmless NBN outage

Some phone lines could not make calls on Friday during the NBN outage.

Esperance lost the means to make calls on some phone lines during the NBN outage on Friday morning.

At the time, police said some NBN customers in Bandy Creek, Castletown, Chadwick, Esperance and West Beach could be prevented from calling emergency services.

The disruption did not result in serious problems, according to Esperance police.

“As far as I am aware, nobody was affected,” senior Sergeant Chris Taylor said.

The NBN said a hardware fault was to blame for the outage and technicians had since replaced the faulty equipment.

Service was restored on the same day.
