The first grain deliveries have started, four days after last year’s season began.

A CBH spokesperson said its Chadwick facility received the first load, 55.4 tonnes of feed barley, from Tom and Victoria Brown’s Beaumont property Hill Plains on Sunday.

“Everything went smoothly, including the new Visual Analysis sampling technology,” they said.

In Ravensthorpe, Peter and Lena Daw were first out of the block with a Trident canola delivery of about 49 tonnes from Mallee Vallee.

Meanwhile, contractors are still working for CBH on the expansion of its Shark Lake facility.

The Weekender understands the existing receival and storage plant, last expanded just two years ago, will still be in service while extensions are completed.
