My brain and how it works when I make music

Perth musician Rhy promises a set of fun, groovy, funky indy pop-rock from his eponymous three-piece band at the Cannery next week.

“I would describe it as fun, something to dance to, something not to take too seriously, but there’s a few underlying meanings in there,” he said.

“I seem to write a lot about my brain and how it works, hopefully some people relate to it.

“A lot of the things focus on my brain: stuff I like about it, stuff I don’t like about it, overthinking and underthinking, getting distracted and the way I interpret things.”

The band, which includes Todd Pegrum on guitar and vocals and drummer Paul Kennedy, has recently toured the South West.

“We did release an EP this year Calling Control we are still riding the wave of, it came out February or March,” Rhy said.

They are due to appear in Kyza and Rosie’s mini-fest “Well Seasoned” in a lineup that includes DJ Ciaoboy, DJ Doris.the.Baddie, Paige Valentine and Campbell Garratt at the Cannery main gallery, 6pm on Saturday, August 31.
