Ravensthorpe Shire’s new-look Council will include two well-known activists; and a former councillor and Shire employee when they are sworn in.

The three new councillors were elected unopposed to fill three vacancies at this year’s Local Government Elections.

Munglinup farmer Max Szulc is well known for his recent petition to stop the South Coast Marine Park, advocacy for road safety and other issues.

Transport operator Benno Sutherland is a founding member of Keep the Sheep and President of the Livestock and Rural Transporters of WA.

Former builder Bill Auburn served as a Ravensthorpe councillor from 1999-2008 then spent 16 years as Shire building maintenance officer.

“I wish to advocate for a range of common responsibilities of Local Government for the betterment of the people of Hopetoun, Ravensthorpe, Munglinup and our surrounding districts within the Shire,” he said.

The three are now entitled to serve on Council until October 2029.

Candidates for Esperance Shire council face the polls on October 18.
