Esperance artist Jamie Coyle opened his exhibition Koffii: Compact on Tuesday at Art Gallêy and Workroom on Tuesday.
This is a new art gallery occupying the corridor of Invictus holistic cellular regeneration clinic at the Museum Village.
The narrow space makes it a useful venue for displaying miniatures such as Coyle’s quirky pieces, where he illustrates his emotions with grotesque figures reminiscent of paintings by Salvador Dali and Hieronymus Bosch.
Curator Anna Morcombe said Art Gallêy and Workroom opened in December as a seasonal project she is running at the Old Hospital from October through May.
“The project is a venue for creatives and visual artists to present their work to an audience of locals and visitors,” she said.
“It offers solo art exhibitions in a micro gallery and pop-up room hire for small group workshops and classes.”
