As winter came to an end, Esperance celebrated with a night of live music, dancing and wellness at “Well Seasoned”.

“The timing of it – the day before we dip into spring – I feel like it is important for people in Esperance to have these sorts of events to unwind and really engage with other people and the local crew,” event co-organiser Kyron Smithson (Kyza) said.

“We really wanted to create a safe inviting space for people to socialise and just have a really cool, relaxed evening.”

“Well Seasoned” began with a welcome to Country by Dabungool before a lineup of Esperance and Fremantle-based musicians hit the stage at the Cannery.

Between sets, festivalgoers were invited to join a meditation session with Anna Swann, breathwork with Rachel Vibart, and dabble in interactive art.

“A lot of people really engaged with those – they were all very well received and they set the tone for the evening,” Kyza said.

It was the second year Kyza and co-organiser Rosie Henderson had hosted the “ode to the seasons” and Kyza said they both thought it was “outstanding”.

“It was a beautiful set up in there – as soon as you walked into that gallery it felt special like something different, something unlike what you would be doing week-in, week-out in a small town which was the vibe we were really going for so we were super happy,” he said.

“It’s lovely to see so many people within the community collaborating together to create an intentional space and “Well-Seasoned” really hit all those marks.

“Big shoutout to Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission, Down to Earth, Esperance Records and Esperance Native Nursery for sponsoring.”
