Karli Florisson’s new book is for anyone who is new in town who needs to quickly bone up on local history.
The Weekender Editor found himself in Esperance three Decembers ago, wondering where the Dempster’s were now and grappling with something about a pub called the Gray Starling (or was it a boat?).
This is the book he desperately wanted to read, if only it had been available.

A new resident may prefer to read this book cover-to-cover as it has much useful information about the families who shaped the Esperance community of today, buildings, jetties and the like.
As it is based on the author’s Five Minute Histories which first appeared in the Esperance Tide, the reader can also open the book anywhere and read one or more of the self-contained stories.
Florisson launched East of 121: Five Minute Histories from Esperance at the Esperance Museum last Friday.
