It had been almost 15 years in the making when Kenton Wehr debuted his restored 1970 Valiant VF Pacer at Outta the Shed.
His major restoration was a combination of multiple vehicles and various parts he had collected from all over Australia.
“The motor came out of one car, the body is off another car,” he said.

“The body came from Queensland, ordered off eBay probably 10 or 15 years ago.
“I was formerly a Chrysler or Valiant mechanic in South Australia before we shifted to WA.
“I just kept collecting parts from people and buying second hand cars or older parts, and I just collected enough to put it back together.”
Mr Wehr said after the years it had taken him to paint the car combined with the years it took to finish it; the completed restoration had been a long time coming. He said he’d worked hard with a close mate to get it finished for Outta the Shed, and he was looking forward to spending some time behind the wheel.

His favourite part, he said, was tinkering with all the different parts.
“I’m reasonable when it comes to bolting things back to together,” he said.
“There was 2000 bits everywhere in the shed and probably 1990 have found their way back onto the car.”

“There’s a sense of satisfaction in pulling something a part and putting it back together and making it work.”
Mr Wehr’s pastel yellow Valiant was one of six cars he had lined up at the show on Sunday.
He said the yellow one had been his main restoration project and the other vehicles he had collected over the years, including a magenta Valiant Charger RT and an orange Valiant Charger.
