At the opening of State Parliament last week Member for Roe Peter Rundle gave notice of his intention to move a “disallowance motion” against the South Coast Marine Park.
He told Parliament he would move to disallow the Mamang, Mirning, Western Bight and Wudjari Marine Park orders.
Later in the day he told Parliament that consultation on the matter was “not up to scratch”.
“This was another thing the government, relying on the 1995 Wilson Inlet report, foisted upon the people of Esperance, Hopetoun and Bremer Bay,” he said.
“There was a lack of consultation.”
Mr Rundle said the people of Esperance held rallies, one attended by 1000 people and another by 300.

“They were not happy,” he said.
“Unfortunately, the minister snuck down there on the day of the Melbourne Cup to try to make a quiet announcement about South Coast Marine Park.
“He went for a bit of a boat trip, made the announcement and then came straight back to Perth.”
Mr Rundle said the people of Esperance were still unhappy.
“I made a promise to move a disallowance motion on South Coast Marine Park on the first day of Parliament and I have done that,” he said.
When we contacted Mr Rundle he said he did not expect his motion to be debated for several weeks.
Nationals WA leader Shane Love also gave notice of his intention to move a disallowance motion against the new firearms legislation.
