Snake first aid was on expert Darren Darch’s class agenda as he reached into a black bag and pulled out his tiny, yet feisty carpet python, which proceeded to strike him multiple times.
“She’s got attitude,” Mr Darch said.

The room of eager learners at the Cannery Arts Centre looked alarmed but it was just another snake encounter for the nonplussed Mr Darch, who has been handling the slithering reptiles since he was six years old.
Listeners munched on pizza as Mr Darch informed them about types of snakes, their risks and snake fallacies, before Swans vet Alex Hockton talked all things snakes versus pets.

Mr Darch said he had attended 120 snake removal jobs so far in 2025.
His free snake awareness sessions run from time to time throughout the year.
