THE new Indoor Sports stadium will have its new floors finished very soon, according to a Shire spokesperson.
They said the floor installation process had started but it was something that could not be rushed.
“The sub flooring has been delivered and contractors have started installation,” they said.
“Like many newcomers to our sometimes sunny, sometimes windy shores, the top floor boards will need some time to acclimatise to local conditions.”
The spokesperson said the acclimatisation process would take about six weeks and installation would begin early this year.
The new stadium was originally opened in 2020 but a water leak from a burst pipe caused water damage that shut the stadium down in April last year.
At the time of the stadium’s closure, shire spokespeople said the earliest reopening date would be in February this year.
In the most recent update, the spokesperson said the reopening would not be far away.
“We’ll have our Indoor Stadium back in action before you know it,” they said
