This September, Esperance is hitting the trails — and we want you with us!
The Month of Hiking is a community challenge with one epic goal: together, we’ll cover 14,391km — the equivalent of a lap around Australia.
From seasoned hikers to weekend wanderers (and even mailbox strollers), everyone can join in.
Simply register, pick a team (up to 6) or go solo, and start moving.

Every step counts – the app automatically tracks your progress – and prizes, surprises, and a dash of friendly rivalry will keep you motivated.

Teams will “race” around Australia on a virtual map, passing fun checkpoints along the way.
Boost your steps by walking to work, strolling with friends before brunch, joining a local walking group, or planning a wildflower hike for a natural mood boost.
This year we’re thrilled to have the lovely Rosie Henderson as our Month of Hiking Ambassador – tips, trails and updates to keep us all inspired.

Follow By Rosie Henderson and GROUNDED Festival on social media to stay motivated and in the loop.
The Month of Hiking builds on the excitement of the GROUNDED | Esperance Hiking Festival (18–22 September), supported by the WA Government’s Hiking Participation Grant.
This year’s program includes an inspiring talk by Tom Smitheringale (AKA Bear Loal Bear), creative tree-listing with Alex Desebrock from the Cannery Art Centre, hiking and wellness in Cape Le Grand with Off the Beaten Track WA, and an Artisan Immersion at Museum Village.
Register today, rally your mates, and let’s step into September together.
September 1 is almost here — let’s start our lap of Australia!
