On December 7, Esperance witnessed an absolute show-stopper as the street stock drivers flocked from all over the South-East to go elbows up in the chase for the title of the 13th Annual 20/20 Street Stock Challenge.
Teams of two made their way around the Esperance track over four heats.
The 40 lap final saw Tristan Stroet exceed expectations, moving his way through the pack to complete his 20 laps before his teammate Hamish Macalpine came through his 20 laps in first place.
The Production Sedans took to the track in what would be the prelude to their State Title with their South East Open.
After a course of highs and lows, the final 25 laps came to an edge-of-your-seat finish. Jacky Moroney and Luke Roberts battled on to the very end only for Roberts to take the win by just a few inches.
Supporting divisions joined the mix including the Junior Sedans, Outlaw Karts, Formula 500s, Late Models and AMCAs.
Santa even dropped in to visit the littlest members of our club.
The Esperance Speedway Club will celebrate its 50 year anniversary later this month.
A twilight anniversary race meeting will be held on December 28 to commemorate a remarkable history and a very promising future.
We’ll see all race divisions hit the track including the Supermods who will compete for the title of the WASA Championship Series Winner and the Junior Sedans will also battle it out for their South East Open.
The club invites all members of the community to join in on celebrating the occasion at a sundowner the following day at the Civic Centre where members, past and present are able to showcase their own history and share stories about this great club.
