At the end of a Castletown cul-de-sac, a little track leading to remnant bushland is to be closed and sold.
The public access way is known as Lot 55 Wiese Way, next door to a house whose owner asked if they could buy the land.
Council staff say the public access way is unconstructed and incomplete, and is not proposed to form a significant link in the local pedestrian infrastructure.
“There is also no known infrastructure running through the public access way, and the steep terrain in the area is unfavourable for pedestrians,” Council documents say.
The matter has been advertised in this paper as well as the Shire noticeboard and website, with no public comments or submissions made.
Council voted for the move on Tuesday.
