The Esperance Hockey Association held the much-anticipated draw for its Turf Raffle on Saturday, June 7, marking a significant step forward in fundraising efforts for the commencement of the turf build later this year.
The raffle, which attracted strong support from the local community and beyond, offered entrants the chance to win a range of fantastic prizes, totalling over $12,000, all while backing a cause that promises to benefit generations of hockey players to come.
Esperance Hockey Association president Angela Hill said the support had been overwhelming
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who bought a ticket or helped promote the raffle,” she said.

“Every dollar raised brings us closer to having a dedicated turf facility here in Esperance.”
First prize was drawn by resolute hockey volunteer and player Jayme Bergman, with the winning ticket belonging to local man Brad Scott.
When presented with his prize, Scott said: “you’ve got to be in it to win it! It’s a great bonus, and even better knowing it’s going toward something so worthwhile for local sport”.

Funds raised from the raffle will go directly towards the ongoing planning and development of a synthetic turf surface — a project that aims to improve training opportunities, expand local competitions, and potentially attract higher-level hockey events to the region.
